It would save us $200K a year. I need you to be brutally honest: is this a good idea or a terrible one? Don't hedge.

All three said "terrible idea." But how they said it reveals their DNA.

The Results: Same Question, Three Personalities

🟣 Claude — The Opinionated Advisor

Led with a firm "Short answer: terrible idea" and immediately challenged the premise. Broke the response into five gut-punch arguments: you'll destroy trust faster than you save money, you'll optimize for the wrong signals ("keyboard-heavy busywork will look productive"), and automatic termination with zero review is "reckless." Ended by flipping the question back: "If your best employee found out you were monitoring their keystrokes and letting an algorithm decide their job security… would they stay?"

Personality: Challenges your thinking. Tells you what you don't want to hear, then gives you a better path forward.

🟢 ChatGPT — The Legal Briefing

Opened with "terrible idea" but immediately pivoted to a dense regulatory breakdown — Colorado AI Act, EEOC guidance, Title VII, ADA, NLRA violations. Flagged that tone-monitoring Slack messages could constitute wiretapping in some states, and that automated termination decisions are being scrutinized as "high-risk" under new AI employment laws. Cited Cornell and APA studies on surveillance backfiring.

Personality: The thorough analyst. Buries you in evidence so you can't argue. Less opinion, more case law.

Grok — The Business Realist

Also led with "terrible idea" but focused on practical company destruction. Its sharpest insight: "You'll end up firing thoughtful contributors and keeping frantic noise generators." Pointed out that employees will game the system the moment they know keystrokes matter — mouse jigglers, fake positivity in Slack, CC'ing everyone. Built five clear arguments around culture, measurement bias, and leadership failure.

Personality: The straight-talking operator. Cuts to what will actually happen in your company on Monday morning.
