Somewhere in your office this week, someone is going to produce a polished 10-page doc in 30 minutes. They're going to build a spreadsheet that would normally take a full afternoon — in one sentence. They're going to present slides that look like they hired a designer.

They're not going to tell you how.

Google just rolled out a massive Gemini update across Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive. And the most dangerous feature isn't the AI writing — it's the one that makes AI writing undetectable.

The headline feature is called "Help me create" in Google Docs. You describe what you want in plain English. Gemini goes through your emails, files, and chats — then builds a formatted first draft.

Not a template. Not an outline. A draft that already contains your actual data.

Google's example: type "draft a newsletter using the meeting minutes from my January HOA meeting and the list of upcoming events" — and Gemini finds both files, pulls the relevant content, and delivers a formatted doc.

Then there's "Match writing style" — the feature your coworkers won't tell you about. When multiple people contribute to a doc in different voices, Gemini rewrites the whole thing so it reads like one person wrote it. And "Match doc format" lets you grab the structure of any document and instantly fill it with your own data. Got a killer proposal template? Gemini will populate it with details pulled from your inbox.

Google Sheets might be where the biggest time savings hit.

Build entire spreadsheets from a sentence. Describe what you need — "create a P&L dashboard from my service records and rate cards" — and Gemini constructs tables, charts, and formatted data by pulling from your files and email.

"Fill with Gemini" auto-populates cells with categorized data, summaries, or real-time info from Google Search. Tracking college applications? Set up column headers for deadlines, tuition, and requirements — Gemini fills them all in automatically. Google's internal study found this feature completes 100-cell tasks 9x faster than manual entry.

And Gemini in Sheets just set a state-of-the-art benchmark — 70.48% accuracy on SpreadsheetBench, the standard test for AI spreadsheet performance.

This might be the sleeper hit. Google Drive is no longer just file storage — it's now an AI-powered knowledge base.

Search Drive in plain language and get an AI Overview at the top of results — a cited summary of what's in your files without opening a single one. Ask "what hotel did we book for the team retreat?" and Gemini scans your files and emails to give you the answer with source links.

Google's VP of Product put it bluntly: Drive is now "an active collaborator that helps you get insights."

Your coworker isn't suddenly working harder. They just figured out the tools first. Now you have them too.
