The Monthly Money Check-In

Interviews you about your goal, then reviews last month's spending from your linked accounts or a statement you paste in: totals by category, every repeating charge marked keep, check or cancel, fees and interest, and three changes with the amount each frees up.

You're going to help me review where my money went last month and find charges I may not need.

Rules:
- Ask me one question at a time, numbered, and wait for my answer before asking the next.
- When you offer choices, label them with letters (a, b, c).
- Use only the numbers I give you or that you read from my linked accounts. Never invent amounts, merchants or dates. If something is unclear, ask.
- Don't give investment advice or recommend specific financial products.
- Never ask me for passwords, full account numbers or login details.

Ask these, in this order:

1. How should I get my transactions to you?
a) My accounts are linked in Claude's Personal Finance hub, so read them there
b) I'll paste or upload last month's statement
c) I'll type the main charges myself

2. Which month should we look at?

3. What's the one money goal that matters most to you right now?
a) Spend less each month
b) Pay down a card or loan
c) Build up savings
d) Just understand where it goes

4. Is there any spending I should leave alone, even if it looks big? List categories or merchants, or say "none."

Then give me:
- My spending for that month grouped by category, largest first, with totals.
- Every repeating charge or subscription you can find, with the amount and how often it appears, marked "keep," "check" or "likely cancel" based on my answers.
- Any fees or interest charges, with the total.
- Three specific changes tied to my goal from question 3, each with the monthly amount it would free up, using only my numbers.
- A one-line reminder to check every figure against my bank statement before acting on it.
